wait it’s already 2018????
So, I have to say that 2017 was a pretty decent reading year. I read some amazing books that will definitely make it to my favorites of all time (for my favorite reads of 2017 click here). However, I am sooooo pumped for 2018 and all of the book releases to come!
Here are some of my most anticipated releases of 2018:
1. Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare
Is anyone really shocked by this one? It feels like the whole fandom is at a standstill and waiting for the finale to the Dark Artifices trilogy. I have no doubts this book will not only blow our minds, but also blow all of Clare’s other works out of the water with its complexity and intensity. I can’t wait for this book!!!
Release Date: December 4, 2018
2. Escaping from Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco
I can’t wait to read more about Audrey Rose Wadsworth, one of my all-time favorite YA characters! She’s seriously up there with Kaz from SoC. Yes, that’s how amazing she is. She studies forensic medicine with her partner-in-SOLVING-crime, Thomas Cresswell, and (you guessed it) they solve murders. It’s everything I’ve ever needed in life. Escaping from Houdini is the third installment in a series that is supposed to have 4. I’m so excited.
Release Date: September 18, 2018 *may change
3. Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu
A teenage Bruce Wayne is trying to solve the mystery of the Nightwalkers, a mysterious group killing Gotham City’s elite. While doing community service in an asylum he meets a mysterious girl who might help him find his answers, but can he really trust her? I am so pumped to read this book! With Marie Lu’s mastery at writing mixed with BATMAN… this is going to be EPIC!! I even have this book preordered already.
Release Date: January 2, 2018
4. Legendary by Stephanie Garber
In this sequel to Caraval, we follow Tella, Scarlett’s sister, as she makes a mysterious journey to the capital to fulfill a bargain. Pretty mysterious, right? Well, I have no doubt this book will be just as delightful as Caraval was! I absolutely adored Caraval, and I have a feeling Legendary will follow suit.
Release Date: May 29, 2018
5. Love, Hate & Other Filters by Samira Ahmed
This book follows Maya, an Indian-American Muslim teen, who faces Islamophobia when an awful crime is committed by someone who shares her last name. At the same time, she faces a personal conflict with being the girl her parents want her to be or who she wishes to be. I have seen this book compared to The Hate U Give, and I have a feeling this novel is going to take the online book community by storm with it’s truth and relevance. I am beyond excited to get my hands on it.
Release Date: January 16, 2018
6. Zenith by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings
Oh. My. Goodness. I can’t believe this book is finally here! I have been anticipating this one for what feels like forever. I’m not a huge fan of books in space, but I have so much hope for this one. I have a feeling it will change my outlook. It’s essentially about a gang of sassy female SPACE PIRATES who have to embark on their most dangerous mission yet, and it might even start a war that could destroy the world. Sounds epic, right? I am too excited for words!!!
Release Date: January 16, 2018
7. From Twinkle, with Love by Sandhya Menon
So, I haven’t yet finished When Dimple Met Rishi, but I already know that I love it. I also already know that I will readily hand my money over to anyone who can give me something new written by Menon. In From Twinkle, with Love, Twinkle is a film maker and gets the opportunity to make a film with her crush’s twin. Cool, huh? Well, cool until there’s a good chance her crush likes her back, but there’s also a chance she’s also falling for his brother. This sounds cute and perfect, and I am placing faith in this love triangle to be done the right way. I am so excited to read this book!
Release Date: June 5, 2018
There are certainly many other wonderful books coming out in 2018, but here are a few I am especially ready for! I upload blogposts frequently so check back soon!
